Family Happenings at the Burns Farm

Sheri wears two hats: one to stroll serenely through the gardens,
the other for when it's time to "ride"
I've been gone for a bit, there's been a lot of activity here at the Burns home this summer. Usually by this time of year, business has slowed down a bit, but it has not this year.  There has been a lot about bees in the media lately, and even more people, in this economic time of ours, are wanting to be more self-sufficient and so interest has really piqued in the beekeeping world.

But for some happenings here...we have  held several classes this summer, spoken at several organizations, colleges, nature centers, and bee meetings, with many more yet to come.  September and October are big months for folks to learn about beekeeping and every Saturday from now until November is taken with classes either here or elsewhere. Our business was also featured on Fox News Business, Country Woman magazine, and Heartland Highways (which can be seen on PBS and RFTV after the first of the year.)

We had one daughter get married, and one son join the Marines. Our oldest baby turned 30, while our youngest baby turned 4. One son went to China on business, came back, and went again.  One daughter got her motorcycle license, and while mama originally thought that was a very bad idea, mama turned around and got her own motorcycle license. David and I have had a blast taking some back roads this summer, cruising around looking at sights and stopping at some out-of-the-way diners. Here was one of our favorites, the Eugene IN covered bridge.

It's hard to get the entire family together in one place much, but we tried again this past week with some success.   One son and one son-in law are missing, but here we are at the Monticello (IL) railway station celebrating Christian's birthday:
